East Coast Vanlife was built on a simple idea: travel should be comfortable, effortless, and designed entirely around you.

Our founder, Kyle Sheppard, learned this firsthand on the road. After traveling from New York to Key West sleeping in the back of his car, he realized something was missing. The freedom was there—but the experience wasn’t. There was no space to stand, no place to cook, and no way to truly relax without stepping outside.

So he built something better.

What started in his parents’ garage as a six-month passion project quickly turned into something more. After designing and building his first fully functional camper van, Kyle sold it and immediately saw the demand for a higher-end, more livable solution. He moved into a small rented workshop and began building custom vans for clients.

From those early days working solo in a garage, East Coast Vanlife has grown into a team of 14 skilled builders, designers, and craftsmen, all focused on one thing: creating high-end, fully custom vans for clients who expect more from their time on the road.

Today, East Coast Vanlife specializes in luxury camper van conversions tailored for extended travel. Our clients are ready to explore, and looking for a way to do it without sacrificing comfort. Our builds are designed to feel less like a vehicle and more like a private suite on wheels.
